Sweet Urban Stroll
Strolling along Boulevard Saint-Laurent one summer day, at the corner of Rue Guilbeault, I came across this square named after Joseph-Édouard Guilbeault, founder of Montreal's first botanical and zoological garden. The presence of vibrant and colorful pink hippopotamus sculptures and a mural created by Buff Monster, along with green trees and “green island” sitting areas, created a joyful and magical place. The daily movement of people making their way through this street-art gallery booming with colors is a unique blessing that Montreal has to offer; it makes people feel, at times, as if they are living in a fantasy world. Capturing one fleeting moment of this world is what I was aiming to achieve in this painting.
