Stories of the Street

from $45.00

Though this is not one of the most visited places in Montreal, I found this street corner with its colorful mural painted on a typical Montreal brick wall building and green trees to be an interesting scene with an atmosphere that is so “Montreal”! The McGill district (part of the downtown Ville-Marie Borough) attracts many young students attending McGill and Concordia universities, as well as LaSalle and Dawson Colleges. Strolling around, one can always see many “youngsters” rushing and going from one place to another, all day long. Taking a walk one summer day to explore this area, I came across this mural, located on Rue Saint-Marc, at the corner of Boulevard de Maisonneuve. The mural, created by artist Benny Wilding in 2017, is composed of pop art with references to comics, advertising, and commercial lettering elements of Montreal and Quebec history from the 60th. Being able to capture the moment of a young couple passing by, gave me a strong sense of local flavor.
